Long-Term Stay & Expenses

Rates change daily but this gives us an idea of what we’re looking at for travel, accommodations, meals, and other unexpected costs.

StayWell is a **Toronto-based charity that helps patients of Toronto General Hospital (and other downtown hospitals) and their families/caregivers find affordable, temporary accommodation near the hospital when they must travel to Toronto for medical care.

* Rates are not consistent and may change day to day 

Donor Travel: $500-$1000
Travel costs are backdated to September when the donor began the process of being tested at the UHN (Toronto General)

Recipient Travel: $200-$1000
Recipient travel costs include one (1) trip to Toronto to meet the team and undergo some testing. Includes travel to the UHN on surgery day, travel home after discharge, plus some travel in between while I stay in Toronto for four (4) weeks minimum.

Daily Allowance (ea. person): $113.50
Weekly Total : $794.50
Meal allowance (per diem) rate for travel within Canada is $113.50 per day (including taxes). This includes $29.05 for breakfast, $29.60 for lunch, $60.75 for dinner, plus a $17.50 incidental expense allowance.
